What’s in a Smoothie?

A healthy smoothie consists of protein, fruit, vegetable, and liquid that should be made to taste. Therefore, everyone will make their smoothie slightly different using fruit and veggies they like (or maybe don’t like to chew!).

Basic Smoothie Recipe:

  • 1/3 cup fruit (frozen fruit = thick/cold and fresh fruit = thin/warmer consistency)
  • 1 cup vegetable (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup liquid (almond or coconut milk, coconut water – no added sugar)
  • 2/3 scoop protein powder (unless lifting heavy, then 1 full scoop)
  • 2 Tablespoons Chia Seeds

Put everything in your blender (Vitamix or Bullet work best), blend until smooth consistency, and enjoy. Please note, the recipe above is for 1 person, so no sharing!

As mentioned, the smoothie should taste good to you. Therefore, the varieties of fruits and vegetables are of YOUR choice. Most important is to get creative – the more colorful your choices, the better for your health! Please don’t be fooled by the color of your smoothie, the color of vegetable will change the color of the smoothie - not the taste! See below for some ideas:

Chocolate Strawberry Banana

  • 1/3 cup Frozen Strawberries
  • ¼ banana
  • 1 cup carrots
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 2/3 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Chia Seeds

Mixed Berry

  • 1/3 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 2/3 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Chia Seeds

Tropical

  • 1/3 cup frozen mango, pineapple, peach
  • 1 cup kale
  • 1 cup coconut water (no sugar added)
  • 2/3 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Chia Seeds
